It’s so nice to be home from Philadelphia! Don’t get me wrong, I loved visiting such an influential city to our Country’s history but it was nice to go and even more nice to be home.

Philly provided history, architecture, cheesesteaks and memorable moments all with my Johnson parents and Kristin. We had so much fun taking pictures of her dad at the top of the steps of the museum a la Rocky, poking around Independence Hall & the Liberty Bell, her mom having 3 right hand gloves but no left-handed ones, the Holy Trinity Church (where O Little Town of Bethlehem was written and boasts 5 Tiffany’s stained glass) in addition to other tidbits that are unique to just us. We ate at Pat’s and Geno’s (and survey says Geno’s wins), The Capital Grille (which was top 5 best dinners of my life and if they have it, get the mint ice cream), at the City Tavern (which is where the Continental Congress Banquet was)  and I had lots of eggs and coffee in the mornings (I was in heaven). We took pictures, laughed and learned a lot. Kristin and I found this fun little jazz place that we just happened to stumble in and, like I read on FourSquare, if Will’s not working – just leave. He was super fun and sat with Kristin and I even when he was done working and had a chat.

All that being said, the cold wasn’t as cold as I thought it’d be, the wind was worse than expected and the snow was beautiful and ugly but I think that’s the way all things in life are. I went, I’ve come home and I’m happy to be in dresses without coats, scarves and gloves. It’s hard to feel cute with all of those layers! Ah, Southern comfort in Southern California… I’m so happy to be back in our warm weather!

Prepping for February… January 18, 2010

When you’re in a business like Real Estate, you constantly have to think in the future.  Constantly!  I can’t depend on what I’m doing today to feed me today, I have to work today to get fed tomorrow (it’s actually more like months from now but you get the idea).

February holds loads of exciting events! The first is my first set of CAR Business Meetings in Indian Wells as a CAR Director!  I literally can’t put into words how excited I am being a CAR Director and going to my first set of meetings!  While I went to the June Meetings in Sacramento last year, it was just a taste and this is the real deal!  I’ll be gone for 5 days but luckily I have an amazing business partner that will be helping me with all of my work so none of my clients will feel slighted.

Upon returning, Mark Peterson and I will be heading to Anaheim to the Memorial service for Jim Rohn.  Speakers will include Anthony Robbins, Les Brown, Brian Tracy, Chris Widener, Denis Waitley and Darren Hardy.  I’ve never had the pleasure of seeing any of them speak in person so I’m excited about that but I’m so deeply saddened by the fact that I’ll be there mourning/celebrating.  I can’t put into words how influential Jim’s words have been on me or how they’ve guided me to seek the wisdom of others.  I still find myself wanting to cry because it’s so upsetting but I’m glad that he’s no longer in pain and that his family, friends and the rest of us can constantly find him on a CD, DVD or in a book.  He left his message for us wherever we’re willing to find it.

The next day is a great big day… SuperBowl Sunday! We don’t know who is playing yet but after watching the games this last weekend, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a Vikings/Jets matchup.  We’ll see what happens though…

February 11th-14th is one of my two favorite events that come to the Pomona Fairplex… WinterNationals!  That’s right, drag racing!  It’s so much fun every year!  Since I’ve lived out here, I’ve only missed one visit to Pomona.  I’m hoping to drag (non-intentional pun) Kristin so she can experience them for her first time!  I just know she’ll love them as much as I do!

February 20th is something altogether amazing… love’s truest expression.  A friend of mine, Jasmin, is getting married.  I’m always amazed by love.  The love of two people.  It’s the simplest thing but it’s the beginning of so much.  Two people who can’t get enough of each other create love that creates love.  Through their children, grandchildren and beyond, I hope the amazement that their love started all of it grabs a hold of them in the years to come.  Amazing.  Literally awe-inspiring.  I wish them both the best of luck!

And, the very last weekend of February holds a first for Kristin and I… a trip to Philadelphia!  She’ll be attending… actually, I’m not sure what she’s going for but I’ll be spending time with her parents and boyfriend, Tim, while she’s in her meetings and we’ll all be enjoying Philly when she’s done!  I’m so excited to see a city so rich with history!  I can’t wait!

So, as I’m preparing for such excitement, I’m also tying up my loose ends for the month of January.  It’s been a great month that still holds much to do.
