1.) 4th of July AmericaFest at the Rose Bowl
One of the largest fireworks displays in Southern California with music and food vendors in the nearby Arroyo. When: July 4th, food court opens at 2 pm; stadium opens at 6 pm, Drum and Bugle performances begin at 7, Fireworks at 9:05 pm. Where: The Rose Bowl Stadium, Pasadena Parking: $15 cash for cars Info: 626-577-3100 Cost: $13 General Admission, Kids 7 and under free, advance tickets go on sale in May through Ticketmaster. Tickets go on sale at the gate about a week before the event. Cash only at the stadium.

2.) July 4th Fireworks, Marina Del Rey
Traditional fireworks extravaganza over the main channel in Marina del Rey programmed to patriotic music broadcast over FM radio KXLU, 88.9 and relayed over loudspeakers in Chase Park. When: July 4, 9 pm Where: Chase Park, 13650 Mindanao Way (1 block west of Admiralty Way), Marina del Rey. 3.) July 4th Fireworks at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum
This free fireworks show launched from near the LA Memorial Coliseum is not actually in the Coliseum, but can be viewed from areas around Exposition Park including from Christmas Tree Laneor from the south lawn. Bring blankets or lawn chairs to enjoy the show. When: July 4, 8:45 pm Where: Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, 3911 S. Figueroa Street, Los Angeles, CA

4.) Mr. & Mrs. Muscle Beach, Venice Beach
Body building pageant on the beach. When: July 4th, 9 am to 5 pm, pre-judging 10 am, finals 1 pmWhere: Venice Recreation Center, 1800 Ocean Front Walk, Venice Beach Cost: Free to watch, $80 to compete  Info:310-399-2775

5.) Irwindale Speedway NASCAR Races and Fireworks Show
NASCAR K&N Pro West Series 200 Race and Auto Club Late Model Firecracker 100 races followed by a fireworks show. When: July 3, 4 pm – 10 pm, Gates open at 4, Autograph sessions at 5:45, races start at 7 pm Where:Toyota Speedway at Irwindale, 500 Speedway Drive, Irwindale, CA 91706 Cost: General Admission $15, Reserved $25, Senior $12, Children 12 and under free (free ticket required).

6.) Independence Day Celebration and Parade in Huntington Beach
The “largest and oldest parade of its kind west of the Mississippi,” a 5K run/walk, bands, clowns, celebrities, floats and fireworks on “Surf City’s” famous Main Street. When: Parade July 4, Festival July 3, 4, 5 Where: Festival at Pier Plaza at Huntington Beach Pier, Parade runs along Main Street from Pacific Coast Highway to Clay Ave. Cost: Free, reserved parade seating and fireworks seating is available for a fee. View HB Parade Photos.

7.) City of Diamond Bar’s Annual 4th of July Blast
Spend the summer afternoon at the park with family, friends, and neighbors. Bring a picnic or enjoy a variety of concessions available. Kids’ crafts, face painting, and patriotic musical performances lead up to the fireworks display.When: July 4, 5:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. Where: Diamond Bar High School,21400 Pathfinder Rd, Diamond Bar Cost: Free Info: 909-839-7070

8.) Queen Mary BBQ, Brews and Red, White & Blues
The Queen Mary Independence Day celebration will be an old-fashioned BBQ with Carolina, Texas, Kansas City and St. Louis BBQ represented as well as corn-on-the-cob, baked beans, funnel cake and other barbecue favorites. For desert, there’s a build-your-own strawberry shortcake station. There will be 2 stages of live music, strolling entertainers and a children’s area, culminating in the spectacular 4th of July fireworks show.
